How it works

How does the Little Renters subscription work?

Our rental subscription is designed to grow with your child, offering two flexible options:

1. 'Build Your Own' box where you can choose your own clothes or

2. 'Styled For You' bundle where you can let us style a curated bundle for you

Use your rental items for as long as they fit or suit your needs. Return them anytime and get new ones - it’s like having an endless wardrobe for your little one!

Your subscription includes:

  • Your beautiful quality rental items.
  • Laundry service for returned clothes.
  • Stain insurance for general wear and tear.
How much does it cost?

Your monthly subscription begins when you complete your payment and automatically renews each month (unless you choose to cancel).

We’re all about flexibility! Clothes are individually priced, and there’s no minimum spend or fixed subscription. You can select as many or as few items as you like. Your total subscription cost will be displayed at checkout.

Prefer a curated option? Choose our Styled for You bundle, and we’ll handpick up to 12 high-quality clothing items tailored to your preferences.

How long can I keep the clothes?

As long as you need! We know little ones grow quickly, so you can return items whenever they’re no longer needed.

Return the entire box, or just a few items. All returned items will be removed from your subscription, so in your next month subscription charge you only pay for what you keep, helping you save even more!

Can I cancel my subscription?

Absolutely! We understand life can be unpredictable, so our subscriptions are designed with flexibility in mind. You can cancel at any time. To avoid further charges, be sure to cancel before your next renewal date. This information is available in your customer portal and you will also receive an email reminder 7 days before renewal is due. If you cancel, simply return the clothes using the provided prepaid shipping label and our packaging before the end of your rental period to complete the process. Whenever possible, we use Sendle as our preferred shipping provider. Drop the parcel at your closest Sendle drop off location here.

How do 'Styled for You' bundles work?

When you select a 'Styled for You' bundle, we’ll ask you a few style questions that will help us to create the perfect one-of-a-kind wardrobe for your little one. You will have the opportunity to add notes about your specific preferences, for example, prints and colours that your child loves, any seasonal must-haves, or even the clothing categories and brands that you prefer.

How can I get new clothes?

You can order new clothes whenever you like. Just add them to your cart and check out.

There’s no need to return your previous order before placing a new one. Each new order starts a separate subscription, but don’t worry! If you end up with multiple subscriptions, we will combine them for easier management.

Can I use the subscription for more than one child?

Yes, absolutely! Our flexible subscription model is perfect for families with multiple children. You can choose clothes in any size and mix and match as needed, making it easy to dress all your kids with one subscription. Whether it’s for a baby, toddler, or both, we’ve got you covered!

How much can I save by renting?

Renting with Little Renters can save you between 50-75% compared to buying quality children’s clothing and depending on how long you use the items.

For example, renting 12 items at an average rental value of $4 each costs $48 per month. Over three months, that totals to $144. If you were to buy these items outright at an average retail price of $40 each, you’d spend $480. That’s a saving of 70%!!!

Quality & Care

What brands are included in the subscription?

Little Renters stock a wide variety of quality, stylish brands from Australia and overseas. What really gets us excited is making sure you get top-notch quality with a conscience. That's why we try to source pieces made from fabrics that are not only stylish but also sustainable and durable. By doing this, we're giving these garments a longer life, which means they can spread joy among many families while treading lightly on the planet. We also stock some gems from 'fast fashion' brands that are still shining bright, ready to be loved by you. By keeping them in use for longer we make sure that they don’t go to landfill.

What conditions do the clothes come in?

Our clothes can have the following condition labels:

  • New: Brand-new clothes that have never been worn.
  • Gently worn: Clothes in excellent/ very good used condition. Expect some light wear, possible colour fade, and discreet, barely-there marks or repairs. No major flaws.
  • Well loved: Clothes with minor imperfections, such as faint marks, slight bobbling, or light fading, but still in great shape.

If you’re not satisfied with the condition of any item, just let us know, we’ll be happy to arrange a refund.

What about stains or damaged items?

No worries - stain and damage insurance is included in your subscription! We understand that spills, stains, and playful mishaps are all part of life with little ones. Minor stains and normal wear and tear are fully covered, and we do our best to repair any damage. If a garment can’t be saved, we’ll upcycle or recycle it responsibly. For significant, irreparable damage, we may ask you to purchase the item, but this is rare and assessed on a case-by-case basis.

How are the clothes cleaned?

We take great care to ensure every rented garment meets the highest standards of hygiene and quality. Each item undergoes a meticulous process, including thorough washing with eco-friendly, sensitive-skin-safe detergents, steaming, stain removal, and any necessary repairs. Our commitment to cleanliness and attention to detail means you can trust that every piece is fresh, safe, and in impeccable condition—perfectly ready for your little one to wear with confidence.

I am worried about the hygiene of rented clothes

We completely understand your concern, and we take hygiene very seriously. Every item is meticulously cleaned using eco-friendly detergents that are safe for sensitive skin, ensuring it’s fresh and ready for your little one. Our rigorous process includes thorough inspections and repairs to maintain the highest standards of quality and cleanliness, so you can have complete confidence in every piece your child wears.

What happens if the clothes are at end of life and cannot be rented out anymore?

Our goal is to give clothes as much love and use as possible, but when a garment reaches the end of its wearable lifespan we have a special plan in place. When an item is deemed unwearable, we make sure it doesn't end up in a landfill. At Little Renters, we either donate the clothes or partner with wonderful recycling and upcycling companies to give these fashion treasures a new purpose.

How should I care for the clothes?

Treat them like your own! Follow the care labels for washing instructions—most items can be washed at 30°C and air-dried to reduce your carbon footprint and extend their lifespan. There's no need to wash the clothes before returning them, as we handle all stain removal, repair and cleaning once they're back with us.

Swaps, Returns & Shipping

How often can I swap/exchange the clothes?

With an active subscription, you can enjoy return your items at anytime and pick new ones! Whether it’s for a growth spurt, a seasonal change, or just a fresh update, you have the flexibility to exchange clothes whenever you need. Many families swap on average every three months, but the timing is entirely up to you. You’ll just cover the postage costs.

How does the swap process work?

You can choose new clothes at any point in time. Every new order sets up a new subscription. If you end up with several subscriptions we will combine these to make it easier to manage them.

If you want to do a swap/exchange you will need to return the old items before the renewal date of your active subscription. Pop them inside the box they came in, attach the pre-paid returns label, then drop off at your nearest Sendle drop-off station.

Once we've received your items we will amend your subscription so you only pay for what you've got. We recommend returning items 4-5 days business days before your subscription renews in order to allow enough time for delivery and processing to avoid your next monthly payment going out. If you're a few days late, you can always cancel online via our customer portal. As long as we receive the clothes within the next couple of days, that's fine.

What if I lose my return label?

Don't worry! We can send you a new one, just email us at support@littlerenters.com.

What if I don’t like what I receive?

If, for any reason, you feel that something isn't quite right, please get in touch with our friendly Customer Support Team and we will help you to find the right clothes for your little one.

Contact us at support@littlerenters.com

How much is shipping?

We charge a flat rate to help cover the cost of postage which includes shipping to you and a prepaid return label to return the rented items. This fee is subsidised by us and we do not profit from it.

Where do you ship to?

We ship Australia-wide from our warehouse in Melbourne.

Sell your outgrown clothes

How does a closet cleanout work?

We have designed an easy process for you to sell your outgrown clothes whilst making a positive impact on our planet.

Submit your details via the Closet Cleanout form. The Little Renters team will send you an email with cleanout instructions and a guide of accepted brands and conditions. All you need to do is pack your clothes and post them back to us. If you are in Melbourne, you can drop them off at our warehouse.

The Litte Renters team will inspect, repair and clean all items to be added to Little Renter’s inventory. If any items deemed to be unwearable (ie don't meet our rental standards), we will make sure they don’t end up in a landfill by donating or recycling them..

How can I earn with a cleanout closet?

Here's how you earn money by supplying clothes to the Little Renters’ Club:

Send your clothes: You give your clothes to Little Renters who will quality check, clean and stock all items.

We handle everything so you can relax: From here on, Little Renters takes care of renting out your clothes to other families, returning, cleaning, fixing and restocking them.

Earn money when rented: You earn a share of the rental revenue based on how long your clothes are rented, their condition, brand quality, and a revenue share percentage.

Get paid when returned: Your earnings accumulate while your clothing items are rented, and you get paid when they are returned to Little Renters. Payment will be made to you for all items returned on a quarterly basis. For example, you will get paid a revenue share In April for all your clothing items that were returned during the months of January to March. You can also choose to donate the earnings to one of our supported charities.

Be in the know: Each quarter Little Renters will provide you with a revenue share report including information on how many clothing items you have supplied, when and how long they are being rented and how much revenue share you have earned.

Which clothing brands do you accept?

We accept children’s items from newborn up to 3 years that are in excellent or like-new condition, some light wear and possible colour fade, no bobbling, damage or marks. We do not accept swimwear, socks, underwear, sleeping bags or shoes. Here is a list of our preferred brands. If there is a brand that you would love to see on our list, please send an email to hello@littlerenters.com. We inspect all pre-loved items to ensure they are in excellent condition. If we think the clothing item is 'not fit for rental', then we will either sell them as a messy play bundle, donate them or send them to one of the textile recycles.

Sustainability & Community

Why is renting better than buying?

Renting is an innovative way to maximise the lifespan of each piece, minimising the need for new production. We believe that on average a high-quality garment can be worn by 5-6 children through our new system of a circular wardrobe. Research has found that extending the life of a garment by 9 months would reduce its carbon, water and waste footprints by 20-30% each.

By participating in this new way of dressing our little ones, you become a part of the circular fashion movement.

When one of our garments reaches the end of its wearable lifespan, we take proactive steps to collaborate with our recycling and upcycling partners. Our goal is to ensure that no clothing ends up in a landfill. By choosing to rent instead of buy, you play an active role in reducing fashion waste, conserving resources, and creating a sustainable planet for future generations.

What happens with clothes that are end-of-life?

We prioritise extending the life of every garment through careful repair whenever possible. If an item no longer meets our quality standards for rental, we may resell it as part of a messy play bundle or donate it to a charity. For clothes that are truly at the end of their life and unwearable, we partner with trusted recycling organisations to ensure they are responsibly recycled and kept out of landfill. This commitment reflects our dedication to sustainability and reducing waste.

What sustainable practices does Little Renters follow?

At Little Renters, sustainability is at the heart of what we do. Here’s how we minimise our environmental footprint:

  1. Eco-Friendly Packaging: We use recycled cardboard boxes for shipping and reuse them as often as possible. When no longer usable, the boxes can be curbside recycled. We chose cardboard over compostable mailers because Australia’s recycling and recovery rate for cardboard is 62%, whereas only about 30% of households have access to composting facilities for compostable mailers.
  2. Low-Impact Shipping: We use recyclable water-activated tape, compostable shipping labels, and tissue paper. We ship with Sendle (unless their network doesn't cover the delivery address), a B Corporation, which provides 100% carbon-neutral shipping.
  3. Reuse First Approach: For operational needs, such as clothing racks, hangers or other items, we prioritise reuse by sourcing items from local sharing communities to extend their lifespan.
  4. Sustainable Laundry Practices: We clean our garments with ZeroCo laundry detergent, which is plant-based, toxin-free, grey water safe, cruelty-free, and made in Australia. Their refillable system also helps reduce plastic waste.

Our commitment to sustainability ensures that every step of our process is mindful of the planet.
